Mr. MacPherson has been working full-time in the field of mediation since 1994. Prior to joining MMC as Vice President in 1999, he was Vice President of Canadian Dispute Resolution Corporation (CDRC), a national mediation firm, where he provided leadership and direction not only to CDRC staff but also for its diverse client groups. He managed over 100 mediators in five jurisdictions with hundreds of files from diverse sectors.
Mr. MacPherson worked for several years in the Corporate Marketing Department of a major financial institution and, upon completion of a Bachelor of Laws degree, worked in government prior to joining CDRC. Fluently bilingual (English & French), he has lived in many places including the United States, Canada, France and Great Britain.

- 85 hours of Mosten Mediation Training Courses: Basic, Advanced and Civil Mediation.
- 55-hour CDRC Advanced Commercial Mediation Training program, including the Bank Mediation component.
- 60+ hours of Mediation training at University of Waterloo and York University.
He is a member of the Southern California Mediation Association, Society for Professionals in Dispute Resolution, and an associate member of both the Ombudsman Association (USA) and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, including Dispute Resolution Services.

In addition to mediating cases for Mosten Mediation Centers, Mr.
MacPherson is an active mediator for the US Federal Government and the Los Angeles Superior Court Mediation
Panel.
He has mediated cases involving many clients including: AT&T, J. Paul Getty Trust, LA County Metro Transportation Authority, US Marine Corps, MCI WorldCom, US Navy, Northrop Grumman, Universal Studios, and Westin Hotels.
He has also been the lead mediator on EEO cases. His background and experience enable him to assist parties to devise and
implement resolutions that will respond to varied and complex disputes
within the community and corporate contexts.
He has helped disputants from banks and small/medium sized businesses;
insurance companies and physically or emotionally injured claimants; as well as
senior executives and lawyers in major corporations and government departments.
He has worked to achieve
results in a timely and cost-effective manner for individual clients with
limited resources. He manages the process to assist parties to educate one
another about their issues and needs while appreciating where current and
future constraints on resources will often be felt by the parties. Moreover,
he works well with teams to achieve productive outcomes.
He has experience with a broad client base that includes individuals,
government departments [e.g. US Department of the Navy, US Marine Corps, Federal Department of Justice, Ontarios
Information and Privacy Commission]; law firms, large corporations and
national financial institutions [RBC, CIBC, BDC].
In May 1999, he was involved in the facilitation and training of over two
dozen Aboriginal leaders in ADR and Mediation techniques. He has provided
mediation training and coaching to individuals and institutions, most
recently with Mosten Mediation Training, Inc. Currently he is an approved expert mediator trainer with the US federal government (US Navy & US Marine Corps Tier IV Certification Trainer).

When facilitating disputes between parties I have a
clear objective: deliver an efficient, effective early resolution process
on a cost-effective basis.
This is exactly the reason I value the pre-mediation work of
MMCs staff. By clarifying expectations and securing the necessary
information prior to the mediation, parties can consistently achieve a
settlement rate of some 90% of the disputes at the mediation table. These
results are realized through effective case management and front-end planning
by the parties and MMC.

The parties always have the answers.
